Department of History

The founder vidya vikas mandal karmala late Namdevrao Jagtap eastablished first the facility college at tehsil place in district Solapur in 1966 It was named after late deputy prime minister "Yashwantrao Chavan Mahavidyalaya, Karmala" since its eastablishment it persuedes one teacher & one college administrative staff to persue one goal of "Education for derived classes". In did it is one of the novel experiments all over India. The department of History started in this college in 1968-1969 history as the special subject for B.A. Part-III.class was introduced in 1968. The easeless efforts and inspiration of prin. V.B. Bidave Prin. K.K. Rao, Prin. B.R. Bodhe, Prin. R.V. Veer, Prin. S.S. Banhatti & Prin. J.K. Bile have helped fro me eastablisment of our department. At initial stage Shri H.K. Kamate, H.B. Deshpande, P.T. Aivde, strived to attract students towords history as a special subject. In addition to this the lectures in the history department were very impressive & learned scholars. We are proud to mention the names of some of them H.K. Kamate, P.T. Aivade & T.N. Kadam all these members of the department created social awareness among the masses about history of Indian freedom movement & the role of Maratha empires in it. The department of history has been following footsteps of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. of whose one of the goal was to make in depth study of the Maratha empire. Our department has succeeded in creating the spirit of nationalism among the educationally derived students and it is one of the aim of Vidya Vikas Mandal Karmala Some of our alumini have shown their talent in various walks of our life & are lead in a successful careers in social, political & administrative field. Still the past students have a feeling of gratitude towords thier almamker & are striving for the department of the college the alumini association Major flow of our college is from rural area for effective teaching, learning & evaluation process we invite some professors in history. We are thankful for those lecturers such as Dr. M.D. Nalwade from department of history pune university, pune. As our students community from rural area each member of the department guided them considering thier intellectual abilities through personal guidance and group discussions. Our efforts are directed towords the improvement & quality assurance in higher education.
