INTRODUCTION


The Library has been established right from the inception of the college in 1966. Initially it had 200 books. The college has continued to add to its collection and at present it holds 43377 books, thesis & Dissertations, Minor Research projects, previous year’s question papers of P.A.H. Solapur University, Solapur etc. A user-friendly environment has been established in the library. The present Librarian Prof. Dr. Sapnarani Shrawan Ramteke along with the Librarian.(Assi.Proff.) the library with prompt and effective online and offline Library Services. The library follows Dewey Decimal Scheme for classification and arrangement of books.

VISION OF THE LIBRARY:

To Help in Achieving Overall Institutional Goal By SupportingTeaching-Learning Process Through Learning Resources. College library plays a very important role in the process of higher education and it is heart of the college. It is an institution which is a rich treasure of knowledge. It provides services not only to the common readers but also to the researchers, scholars and others. The major objectives of education can be fulfilled with the help of library. It collects information, processes and stores important information. From the ancient times, storage and spread of education has been carried out through the library.

LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Every year the college constitutes library advisory committee for its smooth functioning of its activities. The major responsibilities of library advisory committee are as follows:
• Planning, regulating and monitoring the library budget.
• Selection and sanction of books.
• Giving recommendations for subscribing to new journals and magazines.
• Aid and giving advice to the library in its smooth functioning.
The committee consist of principal, librarian and faculty members. The committee formed for the year 2019-20 is as under

LIBRARY RESOURCES

The library has an extensive collection of books, CDs/DVDs, and journals covering all aspects of arts, commerce and science. The periodical section is a vital source for academic research and up to date information. We subscribed 53 journals and periodical / magazines of various subjects and 10 newspapers are made available to staff and students in the newspaper section.

Activities

LIBRARY SERVICES:

The library has key role in supporting the academic activities of the institution by establishing.
Maintaining and promotion the following library and information services, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Library services are improved time to time as per library advisory committee suggestions.
1) Borrowing Facility
a) The students who take admission in the college are eligible to get borrowers ticket for book circulation.
b)After the verification of admission receipts,students are enrolled as the members of the library and are issued identity cards/Borrowers ticket.
c) The books are issued to students on producing the identity cards/ borrowers ticket.
2) Book Bank Scheme facility for students
A set of text books is issued a free of charge to the financial weak students of the college for the academic year as per their demand.
3) Advanced Learners Scheme
Extra book facility is available for advanced learners as per their demand.
4) Library Facility to Readers from Society
The books are issued to ex - students and also the students appearing for competitive examination.
5) Inter Library Loan Facility
The college has inter – library linkages with other neighboring colleges. Books are made available from other colleges.
6) Reference Service
The reference books are made available to the readers during library hours.
At present, there are many reference books like dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlas etc. are available in our library.
7)Journals and Periodical/Magazines
Current issues of journals and periodicals /magazines are displayed on periodical rack and are made available to the faculty members and students.
Back issues of journals and periodicals /magazines are issued for home lending.
8) E – Library
Information and library network (INFLIBNET), inter – university center (IUC) of university grant commission (UGC) and ministry of human resource development,
Govt. of India have funded the e – resources programme entitled “National Library And Information Services Infrastructure For Scholarly Content (N - LIST)” on 4the May 2010 at ShastriBhawan,
New Delhi and the college has subscribed the same by paying subscribed rs. 5000/- Under this scheme more the 2100 e – journals (including current issue with 5- 10 years back PDF files) and
51,000 e- books of different national as well as international publishers books and research journals are made available to the faculty members an the students of our college for their research and study purpose.
9) Networks Resource Centre (Internet Facility) A large number of resources are available on the web and library provides three computers with internet facilities. The broad-band internet facility is available in the library for students and faculty members.
It is free of charge provided to faculty members and students from 9 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.register of internet access is maintained in particular format by the library.
10) Computerized Library Services
For the last three years most of the library functions and services are computerized with the help of library manager software. It is used for accession. Circulation, report generation and search.
11) Current Awareness Services (CAS)
List of newly arrived books is displayed on the notice board. New books and current issues of journals are displayed in the library.
12) User Orientation
Orientation to the fresh students for effective use of library and awareness about the services are given in possible time.
13) Study Room
Study room facility is available to faculty members and reading section facility is available to students, during the library hours i.e. 9 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.
14) Open Access
Open access facility to all faculty members and students is available for effective use of library resources.
15) Audio / Visual Materials
We provide CDs / DVDs to the faculty members and students as per their demand for a period of seven days. At present, there are 22 CDs available in the library.
16) Question Papers and Syllabus
The set of university examination question papers, syllabus of new patter / methodology are made available to faculty members and students from the library.
17) Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)
The SDI is given to faculty members and students by supplying current affairs, news paper clipping, latest books etc.
18) New Arrivals
New arrivals (books) received the library are displayed on notice board for the information of faculty and students.
